A rose coloured vest
for my first born son
the size of an oven glove
was the only one I ever made
to express maternal love.

No buttons or holes
but two press studs
strategically placed
one at the neck
and one at the waist.

And he wore it
a pink barrel chest
like a fat little dove
how I cooed over him
my babe in a vest.
